Description

The Pacific Islands Area (Palau, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Marianas Islands, Hawaii, American Samoa, and the Federated States of Micronesia) differs from most other areas in the United States not only by having the largest number of federally listed species but also by the large amount of Critical Habitat designated. Pacific Island Area (PIA) NRCS offers approximately $12 million per year in Farm Bill funding for conservation projects in the islands, which supports approximately 200 projects on the ground. Because these projects are “Federal Actions” they are subject to the Endangered Species Act (ESA) section 7(a)(1) and section 7(a)(2). The Grantee is needed to complete the numerous requests for consultations and inquiries about threatened and endangered species and their critical habitat. The purpose is to assist NRCS in complying with section 7 of the Endangered Species Act in the Pacific Islands Area. SEE FULL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PROJECT DESCRIPTION. Applicants must submit one (1) original and four (4) copies of their proposal to Melissa Skillings, Contract Specialist, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service, 300 Ala Moana Blvd., Room 4-118, Honolulu, Hawaii 96850, NO LATER THAN 3:00 PM (HST), JUNE 18, 2008. Proposals will not be accepted by facsimile. Proposals received after this time will not be considered.
