Description

Purpose. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) issued by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the Center for Mental Health Research on AIDS of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) encourages Research Project Grant (R01) applications that address clinical and translational medical issues in the diagnosis and/or management of HIV infection and its consequences in older persons. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the Research Project Grant (R01) mechanism and runs in parallel with FOAs of identical scientific scope, PA-09-018, that encourages applications under the Small Research Grant (R03) mechanism and PA-09-019, that encourages applications under the NIH Exploratory/Developmental (R21) grant mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
