This financial assistance opportunity is being issued under a Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) Program. CESU’s are partnerships that provide research, technical assistance, and education. Eligible recipients must be a participating partner of the Pacific Northwest Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) Program.

Description

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to facilitate the formulation of collaborative projects with a CESU participant that will 1) establish a monitoring program to assess the status and trends in the seasonality and population dynamics of zooplankton in the Columbia River above Bonneville Dam and 2) establish an experimental and monitoring regimen in the Columbia and John Day Rivers that would help to understand the invasiveness of the rusty crayfish in the Columbia River Basin.. Project will be cooperatively to design, implement, analyze, and report the findings of the studies. Specifically, intention is for the graduate students to provide products in the form of logistical support in the field, analytical support in the laboratory, and reports and/or peer reviewed publications that will be jointly co-authored by recipient and USGS Columbia River Research Laboratory staff.
