Description

Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant applications from small business concerns (SBCs) to propose research to develop new devices and instruments, and/or improve existing devices and instruments to monitor and treat newborn infants and small children safely and efficaciously. Mechanism of Support.This FOA will utilize the SBIR (R43) grant mechanism for Phase I applications and runs in parallel with a FOA of identical scientific scope, RFA-HD-09-018, which solicits applications under the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) (R41) grant mechanism. This FOA does not support SBIR Phase II, Fast-Track, or Phase II Competing Renewal applications. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The NICHD has set aside $900,000 total cost to support up to 4 meritorious applications; the NHLBI has set aside $450,000 total cost to support up to 2 meritorious applications; the NIDCD has set aside $225,000 total cost to support up to 1 meritorious application; the NIDDK has set aside $225,000 total cost to support up to 1 meritorious application;and the NCRR has set aside $225,000 total cost to support up to 1 meritorious application for FY 2010 under this FOA. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.Future year amounts will depend on annual appropriations.
