Description

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission in India is seeking applications (for assistance funding) from interested parties in support of its Health of the Urban Poor (HUP) Program. USAID highly encourages participation of indigenous Indian organizations in this process as both prime recipient and sub-recipients.The purpose of this four year program is to support the achievement of improved delivery of a comprehensive package of maternal and child health and nutrition interventions, including the promotion of water supply, sanitation and hygiene services, to urban poor communities. This program aims to: Improve the health of and basic water, sanitation and hygiene services for the urban poor in India. The recipient will continue USAID’s ongoing efforts to provide support to the national (National Urban Health Mission in particular), state, local governments and the private sector and will forge linkages with other USAID-supported partners, donors and development partners supporting urban health activities in India. Objectives under this program are to: 1. Provide quality technical assistance to the Government of India (GOI), states and cities for effective implementation of the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM)2. Expand partnerships in Urban Health including engaging the commercial sector in Public Private Partnership (PPP) activities3. Promote the convergence of different Government of India urban health and development efforts 4. Strengthen the evidence-based rigor of city-level demonstration and learning efforts in order to improve program learning
