Description

Purpose. With this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) invites applications for linked awards using the NIH P20 funding mechanism and intended for feasibility studies to assist researchers and faculty at Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) establish collaborative partnerships with the researchers and faculty of NCI-designated Cancer Centers (or other institutions with highly-organized, integrated research efforts focused on cancer). This FOA is designed to facilitate planning and implementation of focused collaborations in cancer-related research, training, career development, education, and/or outreach. The sole intent of the P20 partnership awards is to provide support for cancer projects and programs for limited durations of time to perform feasibility studies and obtain preliminary data that will lead to the submission of specific competitive grant applications for support by the NCI and/or other sources of peer-reviewed funding. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Planning Grant (P20) funding mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The combined direct cost budgeted in the two linked applications from the MSI and the Cancer Center together cannot exceed $275,000. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
