Description
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), is pleased to announce that it is seeking applications under the FY 2009 OJJDP Recovery Act - ICAC Task Force Training Grants program with funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (“Recovery Act”). Pursuant to the Protect Our Children Act of 2008 (Public Law 110-401, hereafter, “the Act”), the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program seeks to maintain and expand State and regional ICAC task forces to address technology-facilitated child exploitation. These task forces work collaboratively as a national network of law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies that prevent, interdict, and investigate Internet crimes against children. Section 102(b)(4) (Training) of the Act provides the Attorney General authority to establish training programs to support the mission of the ICAC Task Forces. The FY 2009 OJJDP Recovery Act - New ICAC Task Force Training Grants furthers the Department’s mission to provide training and support in this area of constantly evolving technology and technical assistance to new and established task force agencies by increasing the training available through a cadre of training providers. OJJDP is particularly interested in proposals for training programs focused on: (1) Computer Forensics, (2) Prosecution of Child Sexual Exploitation and Technology Facilitated Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses, (3) Specialized Techniques for Investigating Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses (for example, cell phone technologies or file encryption), and (4) Wellness for Law Enforcement and Other Professionals Exposed to Child Exploitation Images at Work. This program furthers the Department’s mission to provide training and support to Internet Crimes Against Children task forces as they develop effective responses to online enticement of children by sexual predators, child exploitation, and child obscenity and pornography cases. This program furthers the purpose of the Recovery Act by providing funding for hiring and retaining trained experts to provide training and technical assistance to law enforcement officers, prosecutors, forensic analysts, and other related professionals to increase their skills sets and make them more employable in child exploitation units.
