Description
FTA will be accepting discretionary applications for funds made available under the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, 2009” (Pub. L. 111-5; “ARRA”) to the Public Transportation on Indian Reservations Program (Tribal Transit Program). The ARRA was signed into law by President Barack Obama on February 17, 2009. Goals of the statute include the preservation and creation of jobs and promotion of an economic recovery, as well as the investment in transportation, environmental protection, and other infrastructure providing long-term economic benefits.The ARRA, Tribal Transit program purpose is to provide funding to federally recognized Indian Tribes for public transportation capital projects for use in public transportation. Under ARRA, $17 million is available for discretionary award.
