Description
Purpose. The purpose of this FOA issued by the National Institute of Drug Abuse, National Institutes of Health, is to enhance our understanding of the role of epigenomics in HIV infection and pathogenesis in combination with substance abuse.This FOA invites applications proposing innovative research to stimulate new areas of research or develop new approaches to existing studies.Newly-formed collaborations to foster sharing of expertise between the fields of HIV/AIDS, drug abuse, and epigenomics research are encouraged.
Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism and runs in parallel with another FOA of identical scientific scope, RFA-DA-10-011, that solicits applications under the Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant (R21) mechanism.
Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. A total of $2.5 million has been set aside for this R01 FOA (RFA-DA-10-010) and the companion R21 FOA (RFA-DA-10-011).It is anticipated that 2-4 R01s and 4-6 R21s could be funded.
