Eligible Organizations 1. You may submit an application(s) if your organization has any of the following characteristics: Only applicants funded as Prevention Research Centers under CDC Program Announcement DP09-001 are eligible to compete for Special Interest Projects (SIPS) supplemental funding. Competition is limited to Prevention Research Centers under CDC Program Announcement DP09-001 because they are uniquely positioned to perform, oversee, and coordinate community-based participatory research that promotes the field of prevention research due to their established relationships with community partners. 2. Foreign Organizations: Foreign Organizations are not eligible to apply. Foreign components of U.S. Organizations are not eligible to apply.

Description

The purpose of the Prevention Research Centers (PRC) program’s Special Interest Projects (SIPs) is to support supplemental projects in health promotion and disease prevention research that: (1) focus on the major causes of death and disability, with an emphasis on underserved and minority populations (2) improve public health practice through community-based participatory research, and (3) design, test, disseminate, or translate effective public health programs at the state and community level. A major focus of this supplemental funding program is to design, test, and disseminate effective prevention research strategies.
